Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has advised DCC Energy, a division of leading international sales, marketing and support services group DCC plc, on the acquisition of WIRSOL Roof Solutions (WIRSOL), a provider of photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage systems.

The transaction marks the start of DCC Energy's entry into the German PV market, the largest in Europe. For WIRSOL, it means joining DCC Energy's European Energy Management Services (EMS) network. The closing of the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in late summer 2024.

The Pinsent Masons team was led by Frankfurt based corporate partner Volker Balda and involved colleagues from various offices and skillsets including Corporate and Commercial, Tax, Employment, IP/IT, Competition, Compliance, Real Estate, and Public & Regulatory. This is the second major transaction in nine months in which Pinsent Masons has acted for DCC Energy in Germany. In November 2023, the team led by Volker Balda had already advised the company on the acquisition of the Progas Group. DCC provides solutions across three transformative sectors: energy, healthcare and technology. DCC plc is headquartered in Dublin, listed on the London Stock Exchange and a member of the FTSE 100. In 2023 (financial year end: 31 March 2024), DCC generated revenues of GBP 19.9 billion.

WIRSOL is a provider of photovoltaic systems and battery storage systems with more than 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. The Waghäusel-based company currently employs 120 people and has planned and installed over 16,000 solar systems for commercial and private customers throughout Germany with a total output of 1,500 megawatts peak since 2003.
