Dispute Resolution - Middle East

The Middle East marketplace offers opportunity and risk in equal measure. The political, regulatory and  commercial environment is complex and highly charged. In such an environment, some disputes are inevitable.  We can help you with tactics for dispute resolution as well as the obtaining and preservation of evidence and analysis of routes to enforcement

After exploring all appropriate avenues of alternative dispute resolution (including mediation and expert-assistance in all their guises), we can conduct litigation and arbitration of disputes concerning construction and infrastructure, commercial contracts, employment and licence arrangements.  We represent companies, financial institutions and governments worldwide.  We have a specialist Commercial Dispute Resolution team in Dubai.

We have close links with Dubai International Arbitration Centre and helped them to revise their Rules.  We maintain regular dialogue with DIAC ensuring we are at the forefront of developments in arbitral practice in the region.  We also have close links to other major arbitral institutions such as the ICC, LCIA, CIETAC, BAC, AAA, HKIAC and SIAC and are well versed in their arbitration rules.

Several of our lawyers in the Middle East are experienced advocates, arbitrators and mediators.  Our ability to field in-house advocates gives you several benefits.  As the advocate is also the lawyer involved in the dispute, they are in full possession of all the facts, enabling them to handle the case in court far more efficiently.  There is no loss of continuity in either client care, case management or tactics and it is better value for money as we would not need to instruct separate counsel which invariably leads to some overlap and an increase in costs.

Good relationships with local lawyers and advocates, consultants and experts enable us to help you to manage disputes in many different jurisdictions.
