Alan heads the Competition, EU & Trade Group at Pinsent Masons. He is qualified as a solicitor in England and Ireland, and practised in Brussels for six years including a year with the European Commission.
He advises on transactional matters, including UK, EU and multi-jurisdictional merger filings, investigations into anti-competitive agreements and practices including civil and criminal cartels, as well as advising on numerous market studies and market investigations. He is regularly involved in proceedings before the European Commission, the Competition and Markets Authority, the Competition Appeal Tribunal and the English and European Courts.
Alan has specialist experience of the financial services, infrastructure, energy and manufacturing sectors.
Legal 500 2018 describes Alan as a “seasoned competition lawyer”, while Chambers 2019 highlights his "huge experience in cartel matters" and that "clients have always admired his knowledge and leadership".
