Artificial intelligence is now embedded across teaching, research and university operations. It is changing how decisions are made, how data is used, and where legal and regulatory risk sits for Higher Education institutions.

Join us for this webinar where we will look at the practical impact of AI for universities, with a particular focus on contracts, data and governance. Drawing on current experience in the HE sector, as well as lessons from other sectors, the session will explore key risk areas and how institutions are responding in practice.

The webinar will address the following themes:

  • Key AI trends for universities
How AI is being deployed across the sector, how governance models are evolving, the developing regulatory landscape, and what we are seeing around AI deployment and governance in other sectors.
  • Contracting and data licensing
The main pressure points in AI related contracts, including ownership and use of data, restrictions on training, allocation of risk and governance expectations.
  • Open data and AI
Challenges arising from the use of "open" or third party datasets, including licence complexity, downstream obligations, provenance, and managing infringement and compliance risk.

This will be a practical and market focused session, drawing on current contracting positions and emerging legal developments within Higher Education, alongside our wider cross sector experience.

Who should attend

This session will be relevant to In house legal teams within universities and Higher Education institutions, governance, compliance and risk professionals, procurement, IT and data leads involved in AI procurement or deployment, senior university leaders with responsibility for AI oversight and assurance.
