A practical workshop on managing employees for success from day one, as unfair dismissal qualifying service reduces to six months. This workshop explores the importance of setting clear expectations, holding regular, structured check-ins, providing appropriate support and adjustments and ending employment lawfully where necessary.

As the qualifying service for unfair dismissal reduces, the probationary period becomes a decisive phase. Used well, it supports good hires to thrive; used poorly, it allows performance concerns and/or the need for support to go unaddressed. This workshop equips participants with practical tools to make timely, fair decisions with confidence. Content for this interactive workshop will include:

  • Clarifying role expectations and success measures
  • Evidence‑based discussions and setting clear, achievable objectives aligned to business needs
  • Mutuality of obligations – providing support to assist in achieving objectives
  • Recognising when adjustments may be required (e.g. health, disability, neurodiversity)
  • Ending employment during probation: Avoiding discrimination or other legal risks
