The senior state prosecutor, Jaafar Dimaampao, admitted on Wednesday this week that there was no law which could be used to prosecute Reonel Ramones. He said: “As far as Ramones is concerned, the case is closed.”
The local authorities had hoped to use a law which controlled illegal use of passwords for credit cards or bank accounts for money, but the evidence ordered by a court to bring a case against Ramones could not be produced.
Another suspect, Onel de Guzman, had previously admitted through his lawyer that he may have sent the virus out by mistake. The authorities did not say this week if they would bring any charges against de Guzman or any other suspects.
