London & Cambridge Properties has unveiled new proposals for a £30 million redevelopment of Pitsea town centre in Essex. The proposals follow a masterplan for the regeneration that was produced and approved by Basildon Borough Council in 2007.

The regeneration proposals unveiled at a consultation yesterday include regeneration of a market with capacity to hold 50 new stalls and includes new public space and new paving along the frontages, 34,500 square feet of new retail space, a new 73,000 square feet Morrisons supermarket and an office regeneration.

"Pitsea town centre is in desperate need of investment and we have been committed to its regeneration for a number of years," said Tony Ball, Basildon Borough Council leader. "Although the economic climate is tough, we cannot stand still or the town centre will decline further, so we must encourage private schemes such as this."
