Players of the game can buy items from other players of the game using virtual currency. However, many players sell items and characters for real money on auction sites such as eBay or speciality barter sites like CamelotExchange.
Mythic has allegedly forced eBay to shut down several auctions of Dark Age of Camelot accounts being conducted by CamelotExchange, stating that its copyrights have been infringed.
In response, those behind Camelot Exchange are now seeking a court's declaration that the sale of items and accounts outside the game does not infringe Mythic’s copyrights.
