The Associazione per i diritti degli utenti e consumatori said that its lawyers and computer technicians have been working on a just-filed suit in Milan that takes issue with the way refunds work.
A statement from the association said that computer makers "rarely comply" with a contractual obligation to allow computer buyers to reject pre-installed Microsoft software. Once it has been started up the software has been accepted, it said.
"We believe that... the principal cause of the failure is Microsoft itself, using its strong position in the market to promote their products in an unlawful manner, to the detriment of users and competition," said a machine translation of the association's statement.
The association's statement said that after the next stage in the court process people can join the 'class' of people affected by the suit if they fulfil the conditions it laid out.
