Freeserve alleged last April that BTopenworld, the group’s internet service, took unfair advantage of its connection with BT Wholesale and launched a marketing campaign for its DSL services after receiving advanced notice of broadband price cuts in breach of rules for Chinese Walls between the services.
Freeserve asked Oftel to investigate the issue and demanded that BT’s cross-market activities should stop immediately.
However, Oftel apparently said that the information supplied by Freeserve did not provide any evidence of anti-competitive behaviour by BT. It has decided to close the case.
