WHUFC is due to move to the Olympic Stadium at the end of the current football season. Developers Galliard Homes and Barratt Homes submitted plans in November for the comprehensive development of the Boleyn Ground site to provide 838 homes in 15 new buildings.
As well as homes ranging in size from studio apartments to four-bedroom maisonettes, the proposed scheme included a public piazza, a memorial garden, a crèche, a teacher training facility and space reserved for commercial or community uses.
At a meeting last week, the Borough's strategic development committee decided to defer its decision on the application in order to consider a revised affordable housing offer submitted by the developers.
A statement from chair of the committee Ken Clark said a final decision would be made once planning officers had made a recommendation on the revised offer.
