Alasdair's focus is on the renewables sector and energy transition, advising lenders, developers, investors and other stakeholders on various issues relating to the financing, development, operation, sale and purchase of renewable energy projects.

Alasdair advises clients across the full lifecycle of different energy projects, including onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and hydro. He has acted for institutional investors and lenders on project financings, investors on the acquisition of operating and development-stage assets, and developers on the sale of energy projects. Alasdair has particular expertise in route‑to‑market arrangements, regularly drafting and negotiating corporate PPAs, private wire PPAs, and battery optimisation agreements, both for generators and offtakers / service providers. He advises extensively on UK electricity regulation, including grid connection issues and grid sharing arrangements, subsidy issues (including CfD and Capacity Market), OFTO transactions and licensing matters. Alasdair is a market leader in wind farm mitigation and regularly advises airports on mitigation schemes and wider air traffic and aviation safeguarding issues.
