Christian's experience

  • Advised a major industrial client in relation to a criminal and compliance investigation into corruption allegations. Conducted the internal investigation, extensive fact finding via (algorithm-assisted) document review and interviews, drafted final report and served as point of contact for the public prosecutor's office.

  • Advising and representing a tech company on strategy and defence against damage mass claims for alleged breaches of GDPR.

  • Advising a major German telecommunications company on a German mass litigation regarding an alleged violation of GDPR following the handover of customer data to a German credit scoring agency.

  • Advising and representing investors in Wirecard securities on damage claims in connection with the circumstances that led to the insolvency of Wirecard AG. The proceedings are backed by a third party litigation funder.

  • Acted for a leading infrastructure provider against damage claims brought forward by several clients in the aftermath of one of the most severe infrastructure accidents in the recent German history.

  • Acted for a leading electronics manufacturer in arbitration proceedings in connection with sales in Northern Africa. This arbitration involved complex technical issues as well as the interpretation of Swiss law on agency contracts.

  • Acted for a client in a litigation on warranty claims against the construction company in a major infrastructure project. This matter required close coordination with the technical experts and a proficient understanding of the technical issues behind the various claims.

  • Advised Hamburg Commercial Bank (former HSH Nordbank) on litigation risks in connection with its privatisation and, in particular, on a settlement agreement concluded with holders of capital market instruments. In 2018, Hamburg Commercial Bank had been sued by a group of holders of capital market instruments in a total volume in excess of 1 billion Euros following the termination of four silent participations by the bank.

  • Acted for a leading global bank against claims for the repayment of an early redemption fee. This litigation featured complex issues of German banking law.

  • Advised Bayerische Landesbank (BayernLB) in its cross-border dispute with HETA Asset Resolution AG regarding the repayment of multi-billion Euro bank loans. This case involved complex issues of equity substitution, European law, Austrian and German constitutional law, bail-in regulations and several complex procedural questions.
