Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has hired intellectual property and technology partner Maureen Daly to lead its IP team in Dublin and expand its pan-European Technology, Science and Industry sector capabilities.

Maureen joins from Irish law firm Beauchamps, where she has been partner and head of technology and IP for 18 years. Her broad range of expertise includes patent litigation, data privacy, enforcement of intellectual property rights, and trademark filings and prosecutions.

Head of Pinsent Masons’ Dublin office, Ann Lalor, said: “Maureen is a market leader in IP and data, and one of very few IP litigators in Ireland with a science degree and patent litigation experience. Having worked with many of the world’s biggest domestic and global brands, Maureen’s outstanding reputation and expertise means she has the right skills and experience to lead our busy IP team.”

Maureen has been involved in high calibre, landmark work such as successfully securing a High Court injunction to block the illegal live streaming of a sporting event – the first application of its kind to be heard by the Irish Court. Maureen also successfully represented the entertainment industry in securing a landmark injunction to block websites that contain their copyright work, without their consent.

Commenting on her appointment, Maureen added: “I am very excited to join Pinsent Masons’ esteemed IP team and become part of a truly multinational network that will enable me to expand my reach and deepen my relationships with clients. The growth of Pinsent Masons in Ireland is testament to the excellent work it does for its clients.”

Maureen is the fourth lateral partner appointment to Pinsent Masons’ Dublin office this year. She follows financial services partner Conor Durkin who joined this month to lead its funds team in Dublin. Life sciences partner Michael Stewart joined in September from Novartis where he was lead counsel, and financial services litigation expert Lisa Carty joined in May to lead Ireland’s litigation regulatory and tax practice.
