International law firm Pinsent Masons has today announced that it has bolstered its Antitrust, Competition & Trade team in London with the hire of Alex Stratakis from Van Bael & Bellis.
Joining his previous firm in July 2020, Alex took up the position of Head of UK Competition. Prior to this, he spent almost 15 years practicing in both London and Brussels.
Dual qualified in the UK and the EU, Alex has a proven track record of advising large corporates on complex, high-value competition law matters. His practice predominantly covers merger control, digital regulation, distribution and licensing, and cartel defence across Europe. Alex advises clients from a wide range of industries, including life sciences, TMT, financial services, basic industries, manufacturing, and FMCG.
Andreas Haak, Global Head of Antitrust, Competition & Trade at Pinsent Masons, said, “I am excited to welcome Alex to our team. He will play a key role in meeting growing client demand for competition law advice and further strengthening our outstanding client offering, supporting the continued growth of our market-leading Antitrust, Competition & Trade practice across Europe. Alex is an excellent addition to our global team.”
Alex added, “Pinsent Masons' international platform, the strength of its City practice, and its collaborative culture represent a great opportunity for me and the clients I serve. I look forward to working alongside such a talented team to meet our clients' multifaceted needs. I will always be grateful to my former Van Bael & Bellis colleagues for their support.”
This appointment follows Nicholas Holmes and Dinesh Banani recently joining Pinsent Masons’ Corporate team in London and underlines the growing strength of the firm’s City practice.
