Pinsent Mason’s McConkey To Head Ulster Commercial Property Lawyers’ Association

21 Aug 2012 | 10:16 am |

Dawson McConkey at international law firm Pinsent Masons has been appointed chair of the Northern Ireland Commercial Property Lawyers’ Association (NICPLA).

NICPLA was established by commercial law firms in Northern Ireland to lobby for the interests of the property industry and to unite lawyers working in the sector on matters of common interest.

McConkey works on investment, letting and development deals, but has a particular focus on the real estate aspects of renewable energy projects such as onshore wind.

McConkey said: “This appointment is a great honour, particularly at this time. It is fair to say that our industry is facing difficult times given the lack of lending in the market and the uncertainty as to what will happen to the NAMA property portfolio. However there are some particularly attractive opportunities for selective investors and developers who have access to funds. Invest Northern Ireland also continues to do sterling work on inward investment with notable recent successes in the legal, financial and software sectors.”
