International law firm, Pinsent Masons, was awarded the ‘TMT Team of the Year’ title at this year’s Qatar Business Law Awards.
The awarding ceremony was held in Doha, Qatar at the St. Regis hotel on 13 November, 2018. More than 200 attendees were present at the prestigious ceremony during which 14 winners, including both law firms and in-house counsel, were recognised for achieving excellence in their area of expertise.
The Qatar Business Law Awards celebrates achievement, excellence and innovation in the legal profession within Qatar’s legal community. The awards are judged by an independent panel comprised of prominent figures and leaders in the legal sector. This year’s judging panel welcomed Dr Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Dean College of Law at Qatar University and Dr Ehab Elsonbaty, Senior Legal Counsel, Head of Governance and Government Affairs at Qatar Investment Authority.
Jonathan Collier, Head of Doha at Pinsent Masons, said: "We are honoured to receive this award in recognition of our dedication to delivering only the highest level of market-leading commercial and regulatory expertise to our clients. We have been privileged to work with leading entities in Qatar and we look forward to continuing to support Qatar as the manufacturing, technology and telecoms industries continue their growth and transformation.” He added, “Supported by our award-winning international team, I am pleased that we are able to bring our international TMT expertise and insight to benefit the local industry.”
The award was, in part, in recognition of the work carried out by Pinsent Masons for the Communications Regulatory Authority over the past two years. The expertise and insight of the Pinsent Masons TMT Team was integral to the work undertaken by the Communications Regulatory Authority towards achieving the Qatar National Vision to 2030.
Diane Mullenex, Head of TMT Middle East, said, “We are honoured to be recognised by the Qatar Business Law Awards as ‘TMT Team of the Year’ and support Qatar on its transformational journey of technological innovation while helping to contribute to the country’s National Vision 2030. This vision is truly changing the lives of the citizens and residents of Qatar.” She added, “Since we began our operations in Doha, we have strived to combine local knowledge with an international perspective to effectively advise our clients across the globe.”
Pinsent Masons also received a special mention for the work their Construction & Property team carried out with clients.
