Pinsent Masons seals Quantum Clothing deal with Itochu

09 Aug 2012 | 05:30 pm |

International law firm Pinsent Masons has advised Quantum Clothing Group (Quantum) on its acquisition by Japanese trader Itochu.

Nottinghamshire-based Quantum specialises in menswear, lingerie and hosiery and is a leading supplier to Marks & Spencer. Employing about 5,000 staff worldwide, Quantum began as a management buyout from Coats Viyella in December 2000. Outside of the UK the business has operations in Cambodia, Sri Lanka and India.

The acquisition will bolster Itochu's existing production business, which includes the manufacture of menswear, women's wear, lingerie and sportswear.

The Pinsent Masons deal team was led by Corporate Partner Andrew Kerr, assisted by Adrienne Murdoch, Michelle Kershaw (corporate) and Alison Walker (tax).

Commenting on the deal Andrew said: "Having acted for Quantum and provided strategic advice to the company for over a decade following a successful buyout from Coats Viyella in 2000, it was fantastic to act for the shareholders on this sale."
