Pinsent Masons signs lease to move to iconic Sydney address

09 Dec 2024 | 10:52 pm | 1 min. read

Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons will continue its strong growth in Australia at a new Sydney address after signing a lease to move into one of the city’s most iconic addresses.

Pinsent Masons will be making the move to 33 Alfred Street in the second half of 2025, which will coincide with its 10th anniversary in Australia. Under the tenancy, the firm will be occupying 2,600 square metres of office space over two floors. This is an increase of 1,850 square metres from its current home at 1 Macquarie Place.

Work is well underway on the extensive redevelopment of 33 Alfred Street and the new building will be environmentally friendly and carbon neutral for operations against scope 1 and 2 emission. It is also targeting 5.5-Star NABERS Energy and 6-Star Green Star Office As Built v3 ratings.

Partner and Head of Sydney, Sadie Andrew, said the move to 33 Alfred St was necessary to provide the best environment to house the firm’s growing workforce.

‘In the past four years we have almost tripled in size in Sydney – from 42 partners, lawyers and business operations professionals to 122,’ Sadie said.

‘With this growth we have experienced significant pressure on our work environment, amenities and technology. As a firm committed to providing flexible working options and the tools and technology to allow true collaboration, it was vital we secured a significantly larger office space that would provide us with an environment to continue to grow over our next 10 years.’

Partner and Head of Australia, Matthew Croagh, said the move coincided with a major milestone for the firm in Australia.

‘One of the hallmarks of our first 10 years in Australia has been our readiness to invest in our people and our business.’

‘Our move to 33 Alfred Street comes after we relocated in Melbourne to 101 Collins Street in 2023. Investing in a flexible and stimulating office environment is an important way we invest in our people to enable them to work as effectively as possible with each other and our clients during the time they spend in our office.’
