Pinsent Masons' road racers ride 1000km for Charity

Cyclists at international law firm Pinsent Masons are lining up for on an epic 1,000km charity bike ride spanning three jurisdictions and all of the firms' 8 UK offices.

The first leg will depart from the firm's Aberdeen office on 9th September and over one hundred and fifty riders including staff and clients of the firm are expected to take part.

A core team of seven Pinsent Masons partners will complete the entire tour, travelling from Aberdeen to London via Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Manchester, Leeds, and Birmingham.

The sponsored cycle is in continued support of SOS Children – a charity supported worldwide by Pinsent Masons – and will also raise funds for local charities supported by each firm office.

SOS Children is the world’s largest orphan and abandoned children’s charity, which the firm has proudly sponsored for over 6 years. The firm has provided business advice and helped to fund life changing projects in several countries.  The latest is the construction of the newest SOS Children’s Village in Chipata, Zambia which will open on the 10th October.  Thirteen family houses will provide a loving home for generations of children.

Greg Lowson, a Partner at Pinsent Masons who conceived of the initiative, says:

"We were looking for a suitably Olympian way to launch the new firm following the merger of Pinsent Masons with McGrigors and this seemed like a good way to achieve that whilst also raising some money for a good cause. SOS Children does extremely valuable work which we are keen to support."

Meryl Davies, Fundraising Director for SOS Children UK, says:

“It is certainly no mean feat cycling 1,000km and we are in awe our friends at Pinsent Masons who are taking on this challenge to raise funds and awareness for our project in Chipata. Hopefully, knowing that they will be directly contributing to the ongoing care and love of the orphans and abandoned children coming to live in Chipata will spur them on and keep them motivated.”
