Pinsent Masons advises on Burroughs Day administration

Burroughs Day, a 190-year old Bristol law practice, called in administrators after financial difficulties meant its management could no longer keep the business running successfully. An immediate pre-pack administration sale was completed of the whole business  to city rival Metcalfes Solicitors.

The Pinsent Masons team advising Andy Hosking and Sean Bucknall of Quantuma, was led by Restructuring partner Steven Cottee alongside James Hillman, Carl Scott and Bhal Mander.

Steven Cottee commented: “We are pleased to have advised on this transaction which has resulted in the preservation of a number of jobs.  It illustrates the financial difficulties many law firms are facing particularly at this time of year with partners’ tax payments due at the end of January."
