Guidance on how to prepare for a grievance meeting, including recognising when a grievance is raised and issues that arise from the investigation, conduct of the meeting and deciding on the outcome.
An employer’s handling of a grievance can have a significant impact both in terms of risk management and employee engagement. This interactive workshop will build participants' confidence in terms of:
- Recognising a “grievance” as defined by the ACAS Code of Practice
- Exploring the options in terms of responding to the complaint
- Making decisions on procedural issues such as requests for recording of the meeting or disclosure of witness statements
- Identifying the differences between investigations into grievances and disciplinary matters
- The burden of proof & meaning of “on the balance of probabilities”
- Writing the decision and explaining the rationale behind it
