Arbitrator selection in international construction arbitration

Pinsent Masons and the Centre of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution at King's College London are proud to be collaborating on a free seminar series over the course of 2024, on the topic of international construction arbitration.

Led by lawyers from international law firm Pinsent Masons and by King's College London Centre of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution, the series will comprise a number of sessions where panels of counsel and arbitrators discuss best practices around the various stages of undertaking a construction arbitration.

We will be hosting the first lecture on 15 April 2024 at our London office. In this inaugural session, we will cover Arbitrator Selection.

This is the first major procedural step in any arbitration and involves some of the most important strategic decisions that will have a continuing impact on the proceedings in any construction arbitration.

Parties often need to consider a range of practical elements and data in assisting them to select and assess potential arbitrator candidates. That data, and the factors influencing arbitrator selection may be even more extensive in construction arbitrations, where the subject matter can simultaneously be broad and highly specialised.

This panel session will provide practitioners’, clients’ and arbitrators’ perspectives on the range of practical factors and considerations that participants should seek to employ as best practice during the selection and constitution of the arbitral panel.

The participants will also explore how a party in an arbitration might secure improved outcomes in their dispute by implementing a robust and formalised selection and appointment process.

There will also be time for networking over drinks after the session concludes. We would be delighted if you could join us.
