With two deadlines to implement changes to international personal data transfers in the UK and EU fast approaching, what do you need to do to make sure your organisation is prepared?

We are fast approaching two deadlines to implement changes to international personal data transfers in the UK and EU. For the UK, from the 21 September 2022 all new data transfers must – unless exempt - use a version of the new set of contractual terms. In the EU, by 27 December 2022 all existing personal data transfers must be based on the EU’s new standard contractual clauses (unless otherwise exempt).

Set against this backdrop, we are seeing increased enforcement of the so-called ‘Schrems II’ decision on international data transfers by European regulators as well as cases brought by individuals. As such, it is important to understand what steps you need to take now to ensure compliance.

In order to address these updates, we will be hosting an on-line seminar, where our international data protection team will share their views on how best to implement remediation programmes and manage international data risks. This will include an outline of the tools and services that can be utilised to make this process easier.
