Despite your best efforts, workplace health and safety incidents can still occur, making it essential to be thoroughly prepared and positioned to safeguard the companies and individuals interests.

The Pinsent Masons Health & Safety and Regulatory Risk Advisory team, in collaboration with HSE Recruitment, have developed an engaging and interactive mock trial designed to test decision making in the aftermath of a serious incident. You will be guided through a realistic workplace scenario, and you will take on the role of the jury, deciding whether to convict or acquit the defendant.

In this scenario, following an arson attack, a significant fire breaks out within a large development, causing extensive damage to parts of the property. The building’s facilities management company has been prosecuted by the fire authority for breaching the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 as a result of their failure to carry out inspections and to take the necessary precautions reasonably required to ensure the premises were safe. The management company argues that it did everything that could reasonably be expected. Will you agree that there was nothing more they could have done or did they fall short of their obligations?
