Plastic packaging tax – all you need to know

This session will discuss HMRC’s newest ‘eco tax’ on plastic packaging which came into force on 1st April, designed as a financial incentive to businesses to use recycled plastic in the manufacture of packaging.

We'll tell you how the tax operates, including which plastic packaging it applies to and any exemptions, as well as who is responsible for paying the tax. We will also explore some of the more difficult areas for businesses to navigate, including supply chain responsibilities. As well as covering the tax aspects, experts from our environment team will give their perspective on the effects of this tax and the key benefits and challenges the tax will bring.
