This webinar will focus on the judicial review litigation of the last 12 months in England and Wales that has grappled with the public law issues that have arisen.

In these exceptional times of the coronavirus pandemic, governments have taken exceptional measures, often acting urgently to respond to the crisis in ways that by-passed usual decision-making and scrutiny processes, and sometimes restricting the activities and liberty of individuals.

In this 60 minute webinar, David Thorneloe of Pinsent Masons will give an overview of the judicial review litigation of the last 12 months in England and Wales that has grappled with the public law issues that have arisen. This will look at how the courts have applied common law principles of public law, human rights and the public sector equality duty; and look at where the courts have largely deferred to the decision-maker’s judgments, and where they have drawn the limits of that deference.
