In our open question and answer session, a panel of global sector specialists in the Pinsent Masons’ Life Sciences team are joined by Kristine Peers, General Counsel at EFPIA and Adrian van den Hoven, Director General & Sergio Napolitano, General Counsel at Medicines for Europe to discuss some of the innovative approaches we’re currently seeing deployed in the sector and to explore how these might shape it moving forwards.
They lead a discussion on current challenges on issues such as security of supply and related competition law issues, IP incentives, regulatory flexibility and possible changes to the European procurement system.
This is followed by a wider discussion led by our life sciences specialists around the drive towards more open collaboration, regulatory easings including how to deal with shortages and the potential future regulatory pathways for bringing drugs to market, as well as the need for, and issues surrounding, the repurposing of pharmaceutical products and medical devices.
