Gloucestershire council resolves to grant outline permission for 1,350 home settlement

Stroud District Council has resolved to grant outline planning permission for the development up to 1,350 homes between the town of Stonehouse and the village of Easington in Gloucestershire.

The Council's development control committee met last week to discuss proposals for the site, which is allocated for mixed-use development in the local plan that was adopted by the Council in November.

As well as homes, the outline plans for the 98-hectare site include a new local centre with shops, restaurants, offices and community facilities; a primary school; 9.3 hectares of employment land; and areas reserved for sports. The proposed homes are expected to include at least 30% affordable housing, unless this is shown to be unviable.

Development is proposed to take place in three phases, with up to 300 homes to be delivered in each of the first two phases and the remainder to be built following the opening of a new spine road.
