Gosport consults on CIL draft charging schedule

Developers of residential schemes within Gosport Borough Council will be liable to pay community infrastructure levy (CIL) rates of up to £100 per square metre under proposals published by the Council.

The Council has launched a consultation on its CIL draft charging schedule (DCS). It has proposed to divide the borough into three zones with varying CIL rates for residential developments.

For developments of less than 10 homes, the draft rate in Zone 1 is £60 per sq m, with a draft rate of £100 per sq m in both Zones 2 and 3. Developments with 10 homes or more will be subject to a nil rate in Zone 1; a rate of £80 per sq m in Zone 2 and a rate of £100 in Zone 3.

Retail warehouses and supermarkets will be charged at £60 per sq m under the proposals and a nil rate levy will apply to all other non-residential developments.

Separate rates will apply at the Gosport Waterfront site where residential developments are subject to a proposed rate of £40 per sq m. Retail warehouses and supermarkets at the site will be liable to a draft rate of £60 per sq m, with a draft nil rate to apply to all other non-residential developments.

The consultation is open for comments until 30 October.
