Hammersmith and Fulham Council's planning committee has resolved to grant planning permission for a redevelopment of the Grade II listed former Ford Motors building at 184 Shepherds Bush Road in west London.

The plans, which will be delivered by Access Self Storage, will see a change of use of the existing warehouse from storage to office use. This will include the construction of an additional three floors on top of the existing three floors to create a total of 12,325 square metres of office space.

The building was originally constructed as a motor garage service depot with showroom for the Ford Motor Company around 1916. It was taken over by Citroen in 1926 and used as a car showroom. The building has been in use for the last 22 years as a secure personal self storage

facility.

The Council said in its committee report (301-page / 4.25MB PDF) that Access is securing a tenant for the building with the intention of a sole tenant occupying the building as its national headquarters.

Final planning consent will be subject to conditions and to the completion of a section 106 agreement between the developer and the Council.

The Council said that planning obligations will likely include a £200,000 contribution towards improvement works to Little Brook and Brook Green as well as a £200,000 contribution to support sustainable transport routes to and from the borough.
