The Anti-Grey Market Alliance (AGMA), an industry initiative of technology companies and vendors, has introduced a web tool that businesses and individual consumers can use to report counterfeit and grey market activities, such as suspected fraudulent sales, illegal brokering or counterfeit goods.

AGMA has defined the grey market as “the unauthorised sale or improper diversion of new products obtained under deceptive circumstances” and estimates that its annual revenue is approximately $20 billion worldwide.

AGMA was formed last September. Its founding members include 3Com, Cisco Systems and Hewlett-Packard. The group aims to “address the global impact of the grey market on IT businesses… protect brand integrity, improve standards for intellectual property enforcement and stem the unauthorised flow of goods into the grey market.”
