Housing association Sanctuary has agreed an £89 million deal with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to deliver 3,689 new homes under the Affordable Homes Programme.    

The Midlands will gain the biggest benefit under the deal, which has been allocated a £28.9m slice of the grant which will help to deliver 1,078 new homes.  It is the largest deal agreed yet under the Affordable Homes Programme and will help provide new homes that will be built across the country.

Four other contracts have been awarded by the Homes and Communities Agency this week which total £132m.  The beneficiaries include, Housing 21, Leazes Homes, Paragon and Synergy Housing Group. The total allocation of funding now agreed between the HCA and registered providers is nearly £845m, enabling the construction of 42,098 homes in the next four years.
