The new proposals include 669 new homes, a 35 storey residential tower, and 102,000 square feet of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
The changes in the revised application relate to the proposals for tall buildings. Minerva had planned 1,000 apartments and 200,000 square feet of retail space in two towers in its original application, for which planning permission was granted in December 2008. However, in February 2009 Eric Pickles called the application to public inquiry and rejected the plans on the recommendation of the Planning Inspector. The revised application includes just one tower.
The Ram Brewery in Wandsworth town centre is a site of historical interest. The plans to redevelop it will include a micro-brewery and brewing museum, while landscaping works will create public access along a new riverside walk.
“These proposals will breathe new life into the historic Ram Brewery site and Wandsworth town centre," said Minerva joint chief executive Tim Garnham, according to Property Week "The scheme will provide a new shopping experience for local people as well as new jobs and new homes. We have worked hard to create a scheme which will showcase the site’s heritage buildings as well as provide new public spaces, incorporating the restoration of the River Wandle which will run through the heart of the development.”
A public exhibition on the proposals will be held on 29 November, when residents will be able to view plans and talk to the development team.
