Younnis pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace over the offence. Stipendiary magistrate Euan Edment rejected Younnis claim that Cray was forewarned that she was about to be shown the beheading clip. Younnis downloaded the clip from the net prior to transferring it onto his mobile.
"I struggle to understand why you had images on your phone entailing the death and degradation of another human being, regardless of their religion or race," the magistrate told Younnis, the BBC reports. "Miss McClay was shocked, upset and distressed by the images. This is a serious offence and something she will remember for a long time, perhaps for the rest of her life."
