The proposals include the construction of six buildings on a derelict 1 hectare site near South Quay DLR station. The buildings will comprise around 990 homes, with the tallest building reaching up to 50 storeys. The proposed scheme will also provide on-site affordable housing, shops, restaurants and public space.
Pembroke said in a statement that its ambition for the site is to "deliver a high quality residential-led mixed-use development that will open up the site to the local community through an enhanced public realm and a dynamic mix of amenities".
"2 Millharbour is a gateway site. Through extended public consultation we have recognised the lack of pleasant, usable public space on the Isle of Dogs," said a Pembroke spokesperson according to local reports.
"The redevelopment of this site can make a huge contribution to providing attractive, safe and vibrant public spaces, and access through the heart of the Island."
