Royalton buys former BBC London head quarters for housing development

Residential developer Royalton Group has purchased 'Marylebone Gardens' at 35 Marylebone High Street in London's W1 for a £150 million luxury housing project.

The property has planning consent for redevelopment comprising 19 flats and five townhouses. It was previously occupied by BBC London until it relocated to Portland Place in 2009.

Royalton Group bought the building from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, which is now part of Aberdeen Asset Management, for £75m.

"Marylebone Gardens is unique, situated in the heart of one the most desirable areas in central London," said Royalton Group chief executive Ken Parker in a statement. "We are going to create a new landmark address which will bear the hallmarks of Royalton's commitment to quality and detail."
