The partnership will be made up of 20 Design Council Cabe's Built Environmental Experts. According to a statement, WFDAP's role will be to "provide independent, expert design advice on key development proposals, and will encourage collaborative working with developers and applicants."
The area is undergoing regeneration and the Council plans to build 12,000 new homes over the coming years. The Panel will work together with developers to ensure they create well designed buildings and improve the residents' quality of life.
Councillor Claire Cogill said, "We face a number of important challenges over the coming years as we regenerate the borough. The establishment of the panel underpins our commitment to creating attractive, sage, sustainable and well-connected places for everyone in our borough."
Planning expert Victoria Lindsay of Pinsent Masons, the law firm behind Out-Law.com, said "Design Council Cabe is at the forefront of design review and has provided specialist design advice to a wide range of bodies already including the Royal London Borough of Greenwich, Thurrock Council and the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation."
"The fact that it has now partnered with Waltham Forest reflects the Council's intention to regenerate the area and revitalise it with new homes and key development proposals over the coming years. It is encouraging that after a period of uncertainty as to Cabe's future over the last few years the future now looks brighter," said Lindsay.
