Westfield has lodged an outline planning application with Hammersmith and Fulham Council for a major redevelopment of a 7.64 hectare site to the north of its White City shopping centre in west London.

The proposals comprise the construction of up to 1,347 new homes across a number of buildings including a 25-storey tower block, as well as 61,840 square metres of retail space, including an anchor tenant. The plans also include restaurants, cafes, offices and community and leisure facilities.

The application replaces a masterplan for the area, which the Council granted consent to in March 2012, comprising 1,522 homes as well as shops, restaurants, office and leisure space.

Westfield said in its planning statement submitted with the application that since the grant of the 2012 permission, it has "progressed discussions with a key anchor tenant for the proposed development". "This has necessitated a number of design amendments to the scheme, which the application seeks to capture by way of a new outline planning permission," the statement said.

Subject to grant of planning permission, Westfield said it expects construction on the scheme to start in 2015.
