Woking Borough Council will adopt community infrastructure levy (CIL) in its area from 1 April following adoption of its charging schedule last week.

Under the adopted charging schedule (20-page / 367 KB PDF) the borough will be divided into two separate charging zones for residential development. A rate of £75 per square metre will be applied for residential developments in Woking town centre, Sheerwater and Maybury. Residential development in the rest of the borough will attract a rate of £125 per sq m.

A borough-wide rate of £75 per sq m will apply to all types of retail development and a nil rate will be applied to all other uses.

The draft charging schedule was recommended for approval in July.
