Iain's experience

  • Advised Latimer Developments Limited, the development arm of Clarion Housing Group, on its planning application for the redevelopment and refurbishment of the former London Chest Hospital to comprise of 274 homes including 50% affordable housing in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

  • Advised EID Limited Partnership (LaSalle and Trilogy) on a successful public inquiry appeal for redeveloping a former London town hall into homes, student housing, a data centre, and workspaces. Led planning strategy, application, inquiry, Section 106 negotiations, and secured listed building consent for the mixed-use scheme.

  • Advising Westferry Developments Limited (a subsidiary of Northern & Shell) on all planning aspects of its redevelopment of the Westferry Printworks development on the Isle of Dogs in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets including strategic advice, a legal audit of the planning application and the negotiation of the section 106 agreement.

  • Advised Chalegrove Properties Limited on securing planning permission for a 55-storey redevelopment at One Thames Quay, Tower Hamlets, following refusal of its application. Support included strategy for the planning appeal, representation at the public inquiry, and negotiation of the section 106 agreement. Permission was granted by the Secretary of State in March 2024.

  • Advising the Ministry as applicant for planning permission for the United Kingdom Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre, proposed to be developed in Victoria Tower Gardens adjacent to the Palace of Westminster and Houses of Parliament.

  • Advised on a planning application and appeal strategy, negotiated the required section 106 agreement, advised on the evidence required for the inquiry, instructed counsel (Russell Harris KC and Richard Moules), and appeared at and assisted counsel at the public inquiry.

  • Advising Mitheridge Capital Management on its new large scale residential development of the Rom Valley Retail Park & Old Church Road, Romford, London.

  • Advising Seven Capital on its proposals for significant redevelopment of Connaught Square in Digbeth, Birmingham for 770 residential units alongside commercial, retail, and leisure space.

  • Advising Lioncourt Strategic Land on the delivery of a residential and mixed use scheme on 140 hectares of former green belt land which has been allocated by Coventry City Council and Warwick District Council.

  • Advised Spray Street Quarter LLP on the planning aspects of the regeneration of the land between Plumstead Road and Spray Street around the Grade II listed Former Woolwich Covered Market with a residential-led, mixed-use development which will include commercial, business, community and service use.
