Michael is an environmental and regulatory lawyer specialising in energy and infrastructure projects, and has a particular interest and expertise in the regulation of the nuclear sector.

He acts for clients in both the public and private sectors, including major utilities, Central Government Departments and Non-Departmental Public Bodies.Michael joined the firm from HM Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) where he had spent over three years as a Legal Adviser to the UK Government on all aspects of the nuclear and onshore oil and gas industries, including matters relating to nuclear new build siting arrangements, decommissioning of nuclear installations, the management and regulation of radioactive wastes (including geological disposal), and the legal and policy framework relating to the hydraulic fracturing of shale. Prior to working at DECC, Michael worked in the Environment and Energy Unit at a leading national firm, and has undertaken secondments to the UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and Radioactive Waste Management Limited.Michael is a member of the International Nuclear Law Association, the World Nuclear Association, and the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association.
