With technology and data key drivers of the projects that Miguel will be targeting, he will predominantly be working with clients at the intersection of the firm's global Technology Science & Industry and Infrastructure sectors, advising clients on participation in initiatives and major projects that reflect the modernisation of transport infrastructure.

Miguel is experienced in advising on the legal and commercial aspects of forming winning consortia and bidding for projects that address the mobility market.  His experience working in leadership roles in major government agencies enables him to provide insight and expertise to such bids.

Commenting on Miguel's appointment, Diego Lozano, partner and head of Pinsent Masons' Madrid office said:

Michael Watson, head of the global Finance and Projects Group at Pinsent Masons commented:

"With Miguel´s incorporation to the Madrid office we will be able to deliver legal strategic advice to the transport and mobility market, opening a new line of activity into these fast growing markets. He has experience as a legal and commercial advisor which enables us to support clients more holistically and is a strategic priority for us as a sector focussed professional advisory business.

"Transport and mobility has seen rapid development and growth as we see an ever increasing need to meet the transport demands of people and goods and its great impact on technology and the environment. These market changes have only been accelerated by the change in working and living patterns caused by the COVID19 pandemic.  Miguel's appointment will greatly enhance our European capability in this area and our relevance to clients seeking to access such projects and structural funds supporting them across a range of European jurisdictions as well as Spain."

Commenting on his appointment, Miguel Nieto said:

"I am very excited to be part of the Pinsent Masons team in Madrid. It is the perfect opportunity for me to contribute my knowledge at a multinational level and, perhaps in doing so, contribute towards more sustainable, digital and individual-centric mobility.

Pinsent Masons' strong capabilities and leadership in infrastructure and technology mean that I will be working with fantastic teams and, coupled with my experience of more than 20 years in the transportation and mobility industry, will allow us to understand the challenges our clients face on a daily basis and provide them with the best legal advice."
