Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has advised leading global provider of energy storage products and services, and optimisation software for renewables and storage Fluence Energy, Inc. on its successful bid to build the Latrobe Valley Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Victoria.
The Latrobe Valley BESS will be a 100 MW/200 MWh battery-based energy storage system located near Morwell and will be the first privately funded storage project in Australia to be incorporated into an exclusively renewable generation fleet. Fluence was selected by Tilt Renewables to build, service and maintain the BESS under a 20-year service agreement.
The Pinsent Masons team on the matter was led by Sydney-based projects partner Simone Alphonse.
Commenting on the matter, Simone said: ‘This is a significant renewables project both for our client, Fluence, who is already delivering BESS projects in Australia, and for the continuing transition to clean energy that is taking place in Australia – of which storage projects play a critical part. We are very pleased to have been able to support Fluence on this project and to bring to the matter our firm’s extensive global experience on renewable energy projects, and on BESS projects in particular.”
Fluence is a global leader in energy storage products and services and software for renewables and storage, with a market presence in 47 markets.
