Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has advised leading wind turbine repair and maintenance provider GEV Wind Power on the acquisition of the Australian based Rigcom Group.
Rigcom Group is Australia’s largest domestic independent service provider specialising in field deployed rotor blade maintenance and height safety services. The acquisition is an expansion of GEV Wind Power’s Australian presence at a time of increasing investment in onshore and offshore wind farms.
The cross-border Pinsent Masons team on the matter was led by corporate partner Joni Henry and special counsel Hannah Syme in Australia and corporate partner Edward Stead and finance and projects partner Richard Scott in the United Kingdom.
Commenting on the matter, Joni Henry said: “We are delighted to have advised GEV Wind Power on this strategic investment in the Australian market. The Australian government is backing the transition to renewables with an ambitious target of 82 per cent renewable energy by 2030, with wind being a key player in reaching that target. That means there will be high demand for the maintenance of onshore and offshore wind farms, and other renewables projects, in Australia in the decades ahead.”
GEV Wind Power is headquartered in the United Kingdom with offices across Europe and the United States and is a market leader in the provision of high-value blade repair, advisory and maintenance services to wind farm manufacturers and owner/operators globally, both onshore and in complex offshore environments.
