Pinsent Masons appoints new Technology, Telecommunications and Privacy partner in Singapore

International law firm Pinsent Masons has today announced the appointment of Alexander Shepherd as a Technology, Media and Communications (TMT) partner in its Singapore office.

Alex joins from Bird and Bird where he was a partner in the Technology and Communications team. Alex has been based in Singapore for six years and prior to that he was based in Dubai for seven years where he led the Middle East and Africa TMT practice at Simmons & Simmons.

He has extensive experience advising on a broad range of commercial, regulatory, technology, media and telecommunications matters particularly in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar. He also advises on cross-border data privacy and cyber-security matters, both in relation to compliance with Asia Pacific regulatory regimes and compliance with GDPR for businesses operating internationally.

Alex's primary focus has been working with financial institutions, insurance companies and service providers in the financial services sector to support their digital transformation and technology needs. Alex is also highly experienced in telecommunications infrastructure projects such as tower sharing, subsea cables and satellites matters. In addition, he's an active member of the Singapore start-up community and works closely with early-stage companies in areas such as FinTech, AdTech and HealthTech.
