International law firm Pinsent Masons is participating in a week-long programme of volunteering as part of its community investment programme, Starfish.
The Starfish Volunteers’ Week, which includes a programme of daily events, will take place from 1-7 June and is designed to raise awareness of Pinsent Masons’ schools and community partners and encourage people within the firm to get involved in volunteering.
The programme coincides with National Volunteering Week an annual event, coordinated by NCVO, recognising and celebrating the contribution made by volunteers nationwide.
Staff will be encouraged to assist Pinsent Masons’ schools and community partners with general maintenance work, for example, painting, gardening etc., provide Court tours and assist with mentoring at our partner schools.
There is a whole menu of activities planned throughout the week culminating in a key note speech from Duncan Tait, Head of EMEIA, Fujitsu and a member of the Board of trustee Directors at Business in the Community.
Richard Foley, Senior Partner at Pinsent Masons said:
“Around 25% of our global workforce participate in Starfish volunteering activities each year donating more than 10,500 hours of time and inspiring young lives through longstanding partnerships with schools, charities and other youth organisations. It is a pretty fantastic achievement to think that over the last twelve years our UK schools programme alone has reached over 3500 young people. We know what an amazing and sometimes life changing difference our volunteers time and commitment is making on the lives of the children and young people we work with.”
Kate Fergusson, Senior Manager for Responsible Business at Pinsent Masons commented: “We really look forward to holding our first Starfish Volunteering Week, it is a great opportunity to make a difference by getting involved with our community investment volunteering programme.”
