International law firm Pinsent Masons has won the prestigious ‘Energy and Natural Resources Team of the Year’ category at the Legal Business Awards 2014. The ceremony was held in London on Thursday 13th February.

The ‘Energy and Natural Resources Team of the Year’ accolade is awarded to the Energy team which judges deem to have demonstrated 'real strength and commitment to clients in the energy and natural resources sector'. Legal Business states that 'the winner will have advised on a trailblazing matter that has significantly affected the market.'

In October 2013 E.ON UK and Pinsent Masons announced an innovative new partnership that saw the firm effectively become sole legal adviser to the UK business on a fixed-fee basis. Pinsent Masons was also recognised for advising London Array, a joint venture between DONG Energy, E.ON and Masdar, on the £459 million disposal of the world’s largest  offshore wind farm’s transmission assets.

Pinsent Masons fought off fierce competition from Bird & Bird, Burges Salmon, Herbert Smith Freehills, Squire Sanders and Zyda Law to claim the accolade.

Commenting on the win Bob Ruddiman Head of Energy & Natural Resources at Pinsent Masons, said:

“E.ON is an impressive business which plays a vital role in the UK energy market and we are delighted to have gained this accolade in recognition of our work and partnership with them and our wider Energy and Natural Resources practice.”
