Pinsent Masons strengthens IP offering with new patent attorney partner Fred Nicolle in London

Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed Fred Nicolle as a partner in its Intellectual Property (IP) team in London, strengthening the firm's European patents and life sciences offering.
Joining from Simmons & Simmons, Fred is a European and UK Patent Attorney, European Patent Litigator and registered representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), with particular expertise in contentious patent proceedings and advisory work for clients in the healthcare and life sciences sector.
Pinsent Masons’ Head of Life Sciences Charlotte Weekes said: "Fred's appointment reflects the continued growth of our life sciences practice and the increasing demand from innovative businesses for strategic patent advice across Europe. His experience in patent oppositions, UPC litigation and his sector knowledge will further strengthen our ability to help clients protect and maximise the value of their innovations."
Fred's appointment follows a series of strategic hires across Pinsent Masons' European Life Sciences and IP practices. It comes after the recent arrival of IP partners Dr. Kai Rüting and Philipp Widera in Düsseldorf, bringing deep expertise in complex patent disputes and UPC litigation. Earlier this summer, Legal Director Lily Robinson joined the firm's Life Sciences team in London, adding significant experience in licensing and collaboration transactions.
On joining Pinsent Masons, Fred Nicolle said: "Pinsent Masons has built a strong international IP platform and brings together exceptional expertise across patents, life sciences and commercialisation. The opportunity to work alongside market-leading colleagues across Europe and help develop the firm's patent attorney capability was a major attraction. I am looking forward to supporting clients on their most complex patent challenges and helping to expand the firm's offering in life sciences and healthcare."
