Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has won the Restructuring Deal of the Year and Rising Star Lawyer category at this year’s International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Middle East Awards. Furthermore, the firm’s Qatar team has secured Property & Construction Team of the Year at the Lexis Qatar Business Law Forum (QBLF) and was Highly Commended in the Commercial Litigation Team of the Year category.

The firm’s Middle East Corporate and Finance team was recognised by IFLR for its work on the successful completion of a $7 billion restructuring work for NMC Healthcare, the largest private healthcare company in the UAE.

Associate Nathalia Elhage has also won the Rising Star Lawyer – International Firm award, for her work on the NMC transaction.

Commenting on the project, Partner Mohammad Tbaishat, said:

“The NMC restructuring is nothing short of ground-breaking. The team has worked incredibly hard on this trail blazing matter, and it is great to continue to be recognised by the legal community. We are very proud to have played such a pivotal role in the restructuring of the UAE’s largest private healthcare group in the midst of a global pandemic.

The firm’s Qatar office was awarded Property & Construction Team of the Year by QBLF; a category which is hard fought given the competitive environment for construction deals and disputes in Qatar leading up the World Cup.

Commenting on the award, Partner and Doha-office Head, Pamela McDonald, said: “We are delighted to receive the award for Property & Construction Team of the Year 2022 at the Lexis Qatar Business Law Forum. It has been an unprecedented year for the Qatar construction market, which has seen significant infrastructure projects accelerate towards completion, and large new energy contracts let to the market. We are proud to be advisors of choice to our clients in this sector, and to have represented and advised them on the incredible projects they have delivered. This award means a lot to us as a firm and to our Qatar team.”

Head of Pinsent Masons Middle East Region, Catherine Workman, added: “We’re proud to have secured such prestige awards recognising our strength in the region and globally for legal innovation in cross-border corporate, finance and restructuring matters. Not only does this underscore our success in the region but securing high profile awards for transactional services, financial services and infrastructure related matters demonstrates the success of our global sector approach.”
